I knew this was going to be big, but had no idea of its amplitude and breadth. Franklin's centennial events were stellar. There were elements of celebration, information sharing, reconnection, and the smell of history. From the Alumni-Friends Reception to the Street Parade and Festival it was all very cool. Reflecting the efforts of our Centennial Committee, the events were pulled off very well and people had a terrific time. Here's a couple of shots.
The Franklin Centennial Parade featured the Franklin students dressed in decade era--from 1909 to the present. The Mayor, Mary Verner, led the parade in a Mercedes Kompressor and 160 members of the Ferris High School Marching Band blew the pavement off the street with sight and sound... boy they are good. There were old cars including my old 1966 Bug and a 1941 Ford too. Some scooters with riders clad in poodle skirts buzzed the streets.

The night before, an Alumni-Friends Reception was held. It attracted tons of alums and was a great time. Entertainment included the Tapping Grandmas, Waltz Dancing, and alumni speeches. Dessert included Cyrus O'leary Pie and cookies. It was cool. You can check out the links above.
