05/02/09 Esther Has A Cute Kid
Article By: Brian Shute, Ph.D., CCC

My early morning chores include feeding and watering the chickens, turkeys, and goats. Upon entering the goat yard this morning, I saw a furry lump on the ground against the goat house. Esther doe had a single baby boy in the early morning. We were expecting it anytime. By the time I saw him, he was licked off and dry. At first Esther would not let the kid get close to her teats. Michelle milked Esther, bottled it, and introduced it to the kid. Then she directed the kid to mom's teats and nursing has been successful. Truly incredible. We shall call him Little John.
