This is what was outside our front door on Valentines evening.
A huge mother moose and her "baby" poked around Newman Bluffs for a while. The baby approached our garden/orchard fence and I envisioned him or her hopping over it to munch fruit trees.
Let me tell you... there isn't much that scares these beasts away. They are completely unlike deer that bolt at any hint of people. Getting as close as I deemed safe, I yelled and rang bells in an attempt to spook them away from the fence. I gave up and they eventually walked away thinking that I was weird. In any case, these animals are huge and not to be reckoned with. Lucky for us we were able to drive off to a wonderful spaghetti dinner to meet up with old friends, Wallace, Julie and their family.
